A few years ago, Nellie and Chris Tran moved from San Francisco back to their hometown in the San Gabriel Valley to raise their son, who was 1 at the time. While there were plenty of shopping plazas — and restaurants — to explore, there wasn’t much room for their son to run around, except the parking lots. The couple thought the area was lacking the types of public gathering spaces they’d seen in other cities.

The city of San Gabriel needed a food hall, they thought, something similar to Grand Central Market and Anaheim Packing House, a space that would bring diverse communities together through food, performances and art.

Local Eats: Try the ‘Wu-Tang’ wings from MaMang at the Flint Farmers’ Market

FLINT, MI — A Vietnamese eatery in downtown Flint is in the process of expanding its menu to offer more vegan and vegetarian options and it’s latest creation: Wu-Tang wings.

MaMang, located inside the Flint Farmer’s Market at 300 East 1st Street in Flint, offers Vietnamese cuisine such as spring rolls, banh mi with Chinese-style BBQ pork and pho and Wu-Tang wings.

MaMang owner Tony Vu said the gluten-free chicken wings are tossed with an in-house chili oil.

Vu, a Flint native, jokingly said he’s waiting to be sued by the members of the hip-hop group, Wu-Tang Clan, which would prompt him to rename the wings after his last name.

The business celebrated its sixth anniversary this week on Thursday, July 15. As both a celebratory and business move, the eatery is moving into a new stall within the market that will offer more space with a kitchen.

Resorts World Las Vegas unveils hawker-inspired street food market

LAS VEGAS — A street food market coming to The Strip this summer will put on display dishes made with recipes imported straight from Asia’s bustling culinary scene.

Famous Foods Street Eats will open at Resorts World Las Vegas in late June or early July and offer guests a wide selection of authentic cuisines from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and beyond.

Inspired by the hawker-style food centers of Singapore, this 24,000-square-foot hall will have dishes at 16 stalls from top chefs and restaurateurs.

Here’s a look at the stalls guests can expect when Resorts World opens. 

Coming to Resorts World Las Vegas is a hawker-inspired food hall called Famous Foods Street Eats, and it will offer guests a wide selection of authentic cuisines from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and beyond.

Ah Chun: Traditional Chinese Shandong dumplings and hand-pulled noodles. Au Chun won a Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand award from 2013 to 2021.
