A week or so ago, I was in the mood for some Korean food but I didn’t feel like driving a half hour to find it. Had this been 2019, I would’ve been fresh out of luck and gone home having to settle for a frozen dinner or an American pastiche of Chinese food. But then I remembered that it’s 2021 and a spot called Han-Mi is open for business. And so I shuffled over to my truck (that really needs a good wash) and took a trip down Broad Street.

I walked in and immediately was told to make myself comfortable at one of several tables or the bar. I had a boatload of choices since the dinner rush hadn’t hit yet, but that changed as the late-afternoon crawled into evening. New Family-Style Restaurant Owners Hope To Aid Community | Local Business News

A new restaurant called The Farm House is now open at 650 W. Andrew Johnson Highway, and its owners say they are eager to build this new business with the goal of helping others.

Located in the building that once housed The Diamond House Chinese restaurant and more recently Chang Thai, The Farm House is a joint venture between cook Ricardo Camacho, who also owns El Chilango food truck, and Yasmin Huertas, a 2020 Greeneville High School graduate and current East Tennessee State University student.

The Farm House opened in mid-March, but Huertas and Camacho said the story behind it began years ago.

“A few years back my dad and Ricardo worked together, and they used to talk about going into business together and opening a restaurant,” Huertas explained. “Dad finally opened a little store that became Costa del Sol a few years later, and Ricardo opened his food truck.”

Help! Every restaurant is booked up and I blame Millennials

Here’s a kitchen confession I think it’s time to make. Before lockdown last year I had never used a food delivery app. Not even once.

I was so clueless that when I saw the TV adverts with all the different bags of Chinese, Indian and Italian food being delivered, I genuinely thought you could order them all at once and they would be brought together. I know, right?

Fast forward a year of getting heartily bored of my own cooking and I am, if not quite fluent in JustEat, at least capable of finding my way round an online menu.

Like in prison or boarding school, staying home to save lives made eating the focus of every day. Much has already been written about the damnable curse of family lunches; a lovely, leisurely highlight if you’re renting a villa on Sardinia and browsing the morning catch on the village jetty.
