Prezzo to open in Palm Beach Gardens’ Scusi spot

First, the bad news: Scusi, the PGA Boulevard trattoria opened by star chef Laurent Tourondel in late 2019, has permanently closed. The good news? Prezzo, the iconic 90s-era Italian restaurant revived in Boca Raton four years ago by restaurateur Burt Rapoport, will take over the space.

Prezzo is expected to open this fall at the PGA Commons plaza in the space that housed Vic and Angelo’s for 14 years before it welcomed Scusi.

“We’re hoping for mid-November. It’s going to be a quick turnaround,” Prezzo’s managing partner Eddie Pozzuoli said Thursday by phone.

The Scusi space, sunny and furnished in Mediterranean blues and whites, is pretty much turnkey, says Pozzuoli, a former Coral Springs restaurant owner who partnered with Rapoport two years ago to run the Prezzo brand.

“Fortunately, we won’t have to do much construction to the space. If at all, it’ll be just cosmetic,” he said.

O’mei’s menu dishes fresh flavor

Leaving another restaurant at Tamiami Square in North Naples, I saw the nearby O’mei and my stomach sank.

I hadn’t visited this upscale Chinese restaurant since it returned to this plaza off U.S. 41 earlier this year. Then my stomach growled when I remembered how delicious O’mei can be.

Executive chef Mark Cheng and his wife, Mary, first opened O’mei Chinese Cuisine in this very spot 11 years ago. They packed up and moved to a Naples Boulevard location in 2014 before returning to their original home in April.
